See this crazed little rug of scraps I made for my daughter Dia for Christmas?
I’m in love with it.
Why? I don’t know exactly…
Maybe it’s because of the improvised, fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants way in which it came to be. Maybe it’s because I felt totally immersed in it as I cobbled it together from my sweet scraps. Maybe it’s because it’s just as colourful and playful as she is.
Or… maybe it’s all of these, eh?

Great to see you've put your energies into creating a masterpiece (masterpieced?). Each scrap has a story? Love how the pieced sections are road mapped together. Lucky Dia.

Some of the scraps definitely have a story, others are scraps my sister and a friend gave me, others are pieces purchased for other projects… I have make one for myself now. ๐

This is so cool. It's like a puzzle made from so many special sewing projects. I'll bet it makes you smile just looking at it and remembering each of the scraps. It's a great piece of artwork!

Hi Karen, thanks. I'm glad to be back! I'm taking it bit by bit, slowly but surely. Trying to be balanced in my approach. ๐

Haha, I love that you called it a crazed quilt, rather than a crazy quilt, such a good name!

Thanks Michelle, you should try it. The whole process is quite organic and free. I loved the "making" part of this project. Not always the case as you can imagine. ๐

I'm commenting on another quilt your patchwork hand stitching on "for Lo" is so lovely.
Sometimes I can't make all the quilts I see(almost NEVER), but I feel like a person who goes to a museum to see fine art. I love looking at well done quilts, the colors, the quilting and, like yours, the beautiful handwork.
michpacey@gmail.com says
Thanks so much Grandma Sue. I enjoy doing the handwork too. It forces me to slow-down which I really need sometimes. ๐
