The other day, a bloggy friend left a comment expressing her surprise at the number of quilts I had on the go. I, in turn, was surprised by her surprise, assuring her that two quilts didn’t seem like an outlandish number to me… But she assured me back that the number of quilts I was working on was, in fact, three. And she was right. It was. IN fact. THREE. Namely, the baby shoo-fly, the hexie and the Craftsy BOM.
How utterly embarrassing. I mean I totally totally totally forgot about that Craftsy one. Suddenly, there I was with three quilts on the go, and I didn’t even KNOW it. Not to mention the fact that I was clearly denying a perfectly real quilt’s existence all over cyberspace. Like, really. How does this happen?
I suspect I may be losing it.
Anyway… so the embarrassment motivated me to get on top of this baby shoo-fly project lickety-split and get those quilty numbers down man! I don’t like having a ton of unfinished projects. Oh don’t get me wrong, I HAVE unfinished projects. I just don’t LIKE having them.
Happily, today I can report that I have one less unfinished project. Yip yip!
Okay so. What can I tell you about this quilt?… Um, this baby shoo-fly is a gift for my shiny new little niece. It is machine-pieced and hand-quilted by me in what I’m going to call a bull’s eye pattern. See on the back there?… The hand-quilting gives it a very crinkly texture which I kinda love. It has a cozy and warm polka-dot flannel back ideal for our teeth-chattering Canadian winters, and an orange polka-dot binding.
I’m checking this one off the list right now… Celebratioooon! Two remaining quilts to complete, and then my quilting horizons are wide open. Like, wide open.

The bull's eye quilting is so nice! I love the way you mixed in little bits of the orange polkadots to match the binding…or probably the other way around? Anyway, it's beauteous!

The hand stitching looks beautiful. I like how it gives movement to the quilt design, like ripples on water.

Love this quilt,
I only found your site today.
So forgive my ?,
Where can I find the directions for the projects ?
Michele Pacey says
Hi Anonymous,
Um, I don't have instructions for everything I post but those instructions I do post you can find on my tutorials page. There's a link for that on the horizontal bar at the top of the blog just beneath the header.
Hope that helps!

I think it's easy to loose track of things, so no worries, Michele. Don't be embarrassed. Maybe, it was for the best to be reminded. Either way, how fabulous to get this baby shoo fly quilt done. It turned out so lovely. I love the polka dots and the bulls eye stitch pattern.

This is so pretty! I love the hand quilted circles. It looks cozy and special.
(Oh, and I'm blaming/crediting you for the dream I had last night (in fact I think I was talking to you in my dream)(this sounds creepy. I don't even *know* you. sorry.)(it wasn't creepy). Anyway. In my dream I had decided to do a quilt-as-you-go hex quilt and was trying to decide if I should piece my hexes in a traditional flower shape or in rectangles before hand quilting them. I was asking you for advice. When I woke up all I could think was what a great idea this was. I may be losing it. )

Hello Michele,
What a wonderful gift…then again I think everything you do is wonderful so I'm sure it comes as no surprise! You're not going mad,it's just a sign that you are pationnate about your artwork that you lose track. Highly commendable I'd say.
Big hug,
Giac
