These little hexagons you are making remind me of the 'yo-yos' my grandmother used to make. They were about 1" across and she used them to make baby blankets, pillow covers, lots of things. The only difference – they were round. She would back them with a pastel fabric and they made lovely gifts.

I am in the middle of quilting a 1000 piece hexagon charm quilt. Meaning there are no two hexagons the same except one which then becomes a game to find the two the same.
